Curator: Ghila Limon
Jan. 21, 2012 - Apr. 28, 2012

The exhibition “Delimitations” features works by the contemporary Spanish artists. The paintings, installations, video works, and photographs created by these artists all share a concern with processes of delimitation and with the creation of various types of borders. The examination of national boundaries is not limited to territorial questions; it includes a reflection on what constitutes a national identity and on the delicate balance between the various elements that come together to define Spain’s diverse population. Within this framework, some of the artworks focus on questions concerning language, culture, immigration, and political history. In the work of Mateo Maté, boundaries are examined in the context of Spain’s situation within a larger geopolitical region.
