This is the second film in Jun Nguyen-Hatsushiba’s trilogy addressing the memory of the historical events in Vietnam and Japan – his two countries of origin. As the son of a Japanese mother and a Vietnamese father, born in Japan and raised in the United States, his works reflect the national dichotomy and the desire to return to his roots, identity, and source culture. In 1996, after many years in exile, Nguyen-Hatsushiba moved back to Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon), the largest and most developed city in Vietnam, which is gradually establishing its status in the contemporary art scene.
