The Source CoDE Oracle is an interactive installation inviting its audience to create a unique and personal destiny card. The cards can be produced only by a visitor’s act of pressing the button, which generates a graphic representation of an algorithm based on ten symbols. Each symbol represents an action or a stage in the life of the card owner. The symbols are identified by color, material, stage in life, and are individually associated with shamanism.

The Source CoDE Oracle merges ancient knowledge such as I Ching, shamanism, and Zen Buddhism, with contemporary algorithms and code-based generative design.

The Oracle introduces a new ritual that creates a huge amount (120,000,000) of graphic objects, all of which are generated by the source code, but each carries its own meaning.

The work was commissioned and prepared for Jerusalem Design Week 2022.

Ofir Liberman is a Tel Aviv based artist, designer and educator. His work bridges a wide range of disciplines: Sound, graphics, code-based generative art, electronics and art/design by AI.

Ofir’s art focuses on human—technology—reality relationships. His works reflect the attempt to create a bridge between ancient cultures of the past and technologies of the future.

Ofir directs the Digital Products specialization, Visual Communication, Shenkar, and heads the Guy Peres Parameter Center for Generative Design, Shenkar.
