Untitled, 2007, sculpture

Doron Rabina’s sculpture – a porcelain-like sculpture of a young man holding four bunches of bananas on his shoulder while talking into his cellular phone – is a 3-D realization of a photograph taken in a market in India. The sculpture blends Indian exotica with that of the East European porcelain tradition, and the Eros of youth with the thanatological magic of the souvenir.
