Travelling Museum of Love is a perplexing artwork because it is replete with contradictions. In its previous incarnation as a VW Bus, this car, like millions of other nondescript vehicles cast in its image, probably travelled to many places, transporting passengers from one location to another. Transformed into a work of art thanks to the meticulous efforts of artist Lior Modan, this sculptural object is not only static today, but also possesses highly personal and symbolic qualities. Furthest removed from the original assembly line which mass-produced it, the vehicle has been transformed in the course of several years and countless artistic interventions into a unique “museum of love”.
