The elements of the pastoral landscape that Avni created can be interpreted personally as well as politically, thus they charge the installation with an awareness of illusion and escape from reality. The prominent green pasture may allude to the politics of the Green Line, and to the artist’s childhood days, when he hid from the Nazis in the woods; it is possible that the cow grazing in the Swiss meadow is nothing but an expression of the mad cow plague that befell Europe.
